This itinerary is designed to showcase the best of Atlanta and its surrounding communities. It is best enjoyed via rental car. If you do not plan to drive in Atlanta, public transportation to most attractions is available via the MARTA subway and bus system. Local half or full-day city tours in Japanese or English are also available and can be reserved upon arrival in Atlanta.
 


 
Day One
Morning
Spend today discovering Atlanta's past and present. Atlanta is famous around the world for the novel and film "Gone With The Wind". This morning learn about the creation of this novel and its author at The Margaret Mitchell House and Museum, the home where the author wrote the book. Then visit the "Gone With The Wind" and Civil War exhibits at the Atlanta History Center located in the exclusive Buckhead residential area, often called Atlanta's Beverly Hills. The complex includes the 1928 elegant Swan House and an 1840s plantation farmhouse and gardens. It also features the Coca-Cola Cafe and Museum Shop, a good stop for lunch.

Afternoon
This afternoon experience the excitement of present-day Atlanta. People around the world know Atlanta today as the host of the 1996 Olympic Games and the home of CNN and Coca-Cola. After lunch, travel downtown to Centennial Olympic Park for a photo at the Fountain of Rings. Then stop by CNN Center located in the nearby Omni. Take a behind-the-scenes studio tour and be sure to drop by the Turner Store featuring souvenirs from CNN, "Gone With The Wind" and other famous MGM classic movies. And, if you are a baseball fan, don't miss the Braves Clubhouse Store featuring Atlanta Braves memorabilia. Then head to downtown Atlanta and The World of Coca-Cola where fascinating, interactive exhibits tell the story of the world's favorite soft drink.

Evening
Finish your tour with dinner and shopping at nearby Underground Atlanta, a 19th-century-style urban market-place boasting 12 restaurants, over 100 specialty shops and street cart merchants.

 

  Day Two

Morning
Morning Travel 30 minutes east of Atlanta on Highway 78 for a visit to one of Georgia's most famous attractions--Stone Mountain Park. Stone Mountain is the world's largest exposed mass of granite and its face features an enormous carving of Southern Civil War leaders. Take a skylift to the top of the mountain for a spectacular view of Atlanta then tour the authentic antebellum plantation. After, enjoy a typcial Southern lunch of fried chicken and biscuits at the Stone Mountain Park Inn.

Afternoon
You've seen the sights so it's time to shop. Spend your afternoon exploring the over 250 stores at Lenox Square, the largest mall in the Southeast featuring all of your favorite name-brand stores, and Phipps Plaza, an upscale mall of 100 unique stores including Tiffany's and Lord & Taylor. The malls are located across the street from each other in Atlanta's Buckhead area.

Evening
Enjoy dinner and nightlife at one of the many restaurants in trendy Buckhead.

    Day Three

All day
Enjoy a day of good food, good wine and beautiful scenery at Georgia's Chateau Elan Winery and Resort located approximately 45 minutes northeast of Atlanta off Interstate 85 in Braselton. Chateau Elan is a reproduction of an 18th-century French chateau situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Spend the morning touring and tasting in the winery and museum. Enjoy lunch in the Parisien-style sidewalk cafe. In the afternoon relax in the European spa, play golf on one of the 3 championship courses or hike along the nature trails.

Evening
Atlanta is the cultural center of the South. Tonight enjoy a performance at one of the many theaters in the Midtown district or take in a concert by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Or, enjoy a gourmet dinner in a 1797 plantation home at Anthony's in Buckhead.
